T’it’q’et acquired the property at 1264 Bouvette Road in December 2002 and registered it under its holding company, Rancherie Enterpises Ltd. In 2005, the T’it’q’et Economic Development Authority (TEDA) applied for funding from the Aboriginal Business Canada program (an initiative under the direction of Industry Canada and later, INAC) to upgrade the motel business. T’it’q’et spent a year demolishing the outlying cabins and the former restaurant, and completely renovated all 20 rooms in the main motel building.  The community voted on a new name for the business and chose ‘Retasket Lodge and RV Park’ at a general community meeting in the spring of 2006. The new motel opened in July of that year and has won several awards from the website Tripadvisor.com for providing exceptional accommodation at a reasonable price. The motel has been managed by Isaac and Pat Reimer since its opening. The motel makes annual donations to the New Year’s Powwow, the AA roundup and other charitable causes. Retasket Lodge has employed many T’it’q’et members over the years and routinely employes up to 6 part time staff in the busy summer season. TEDA is currently working on expansion plans to add an additional 10 rooms.
